Man of the Moment: Today was Patrick McNamara’s birthday and on behalf of us all, Tracey presented him with a most agreeable variety of ‘spirit’ – in the form of a bottle of choice Malt!

Thanks to our hosts – most particularly Tracey – for creating a copious spread for our refreshment, including a mountain of nibbles and a steaming cauldron of chilli – which kept the writer fed throughout the Weekend………

These notes were compiled on the night using an Olympus Dictaphone, model WS-310M, night vision cameras and my own Olympus 2mpx camera.

Greenways time-line: This 550 year old farmstead could have Saxon roots. It may be possible for us to unearth a long and fascinating history of people and their lives, from as far back as Doomsday, if the records can be found in County and Ecclesiastical Archives.

Kitchen: (Tracey) “I’ve found a map going back to 1870 and this property owned all that land over there and this was here – right here was actually called ‘Farthing Green’…………..(She provisionally concludes that Greenways was then called ‘Farthing Green - whatever’- and when ‘this part’ sold ‘that part’ – they took the name ‘Farthing Green Farm’.

(PM) “Right, well there’s something like Saxon or ‘Slaxon’ something or other – this goes back – your going to find something there about ‘Saxon’ or ‘Slaxon’ something associated with it but this is going right the way back and as I said it was like a massive piece of land that was owned by the Church and there were massive carp ponds put together – err – and what they used to do was – they used to sell fish in the local towns and the markets but also for the monks in the Monastery itself – for some reason it was actually divided. There was also a Mill that milled flour as well,

(Tracey) “I don’t know why when I was looking through all the paperwork – possibly whatever was here – I don’t know why – I was hearing this or saying this – but something here totally burnt down.” (PM) “Yes, yes, there have been two major fires here – umm – one, one house that was here in Saxon times was completely – almost completely destroyed – it was then rebuilt again – umm – and that was destroyed – then it was rebuilt again – and – effectively, this house in itself – this very structure here – has been burnt on two other occasions – there have been fires – two other sorts of fires here – but also, I get something like an implosion – like an explosion or something like that – blowing out in - in – one area here – whether it was a gas cylinder or something like that, I don’t know”. (Tracey) “But, when I was also going through the paperwork Henry 111 got married – got married – and lived up the top at.…………………. – so it said – there’s something - he had something to do – to do with the Farm as well.” (PM) “Well, maybe he was the guy who divided it and gave it to somebody else away from the Monastery – I don’t know – but – what I got there has definitely a foreign connection with this – there’s – umm – in the very early days there’s a Saxon/Norman balance between the two – I think it was Saxon and it was actually – umm – they had to divide it with the Normans and that’s where the Church really came into sway –err – and that’s where basically – err – it was like – how can I term it? – it was run by the Church – but – there was also a Manorship with it.” (Myself) “Like a Grange”? (PM) “Yes, like a Grange – or – err – it was run by the Church – and – err – err – it was in the ‘Gift’ from the King – per se – and this is where this Norman/Saxon thing was involved with the lands involved here – and as I say – there was a house here of some – some description.” (Myself) “So we are looking at several buildings here – umm – pre Conquest – (“Yes”) – pre Conquest –umm – probably the land owned at some stage by the Church – definitely – possibly under the See of Canterbury because Canterbury owned substantial lands here – then at the Dissolution which would have been – what – 1535/6? (PM) “This is where the real balls up – I think – happened – it was taken completely out of the hands of the Church – prior to that they still had an interest – tithes and so forth – umm – but then also – as I said – from that viewpoint this house has seen a lot of different owners – its seen a lot of political strife and religious strife and for some reason a lot of the people involved here were extreme in their political or their religious views.” (Myself. “This was an area which saw several major revolts in the Late Medieval Period – Watt Tyler’s Revolt echoed around this area. There was quite a substantial revolt by people against the Royal Authority so it is not a surprise.” (PM) “Well, as I say, that’s all I’m getting here – you see, from my viewpoint – its like – um – I stand here – or I sit here – and I just open my mind and it’s like and I see this whole room changing all the time – and each one – it’s a different person – but there again – as I said – time is linear – as we know it – time is linear – time has – err – err – a beginning and an end but in fact time itself – all time runs parallel – its like looking back with a space telescope and seeing the very dawn of time – you can actually see the dawn of time – but therefore everything that has ever existed you can actually see in existence so therefore it is all in existence now – but when you speed  your vibration up and you come away from it – you can see everything – and you can see how everything is interwoven into it – but also you’ve got all the other Dimensions – you’ve got the Astral Dimension…it might take years and years – I’ve got people at the moment that I’m advising around the World who have asked for my help in physical mediumship – and in certain cases there are just two people who will sit together – it might take years and years but slowly but surely things will start to happen if you sit time and time and time again  - you permeate the atmosphere and it actually physically constructs and works and they can then use that energy……………”

(Myself) “To reiterate on the historical information – it looks as though we might have a Mill, substantial parts of the Countryside owned by the Church – including this – (PM) “Yes, there was a Mill – this has got – this here – this property has got some connection with a member of the Aristocracy because I’m seeing a Coat of Arms but I’m not making it out clearly, I’m seeing a heraldic – err – heraldic symbol.”

The Local Lady commemorated here would almost certainly have been able to answer our many questions about the remote past of Greenways. Who, what and when did it all happen and why. Questions that only patient research can answer, whether through psychic or conventional academic methods.

(PM) “There’s a Dove flying around” (Indoors) (Myself) “Your sure its not a bluebottle! (PM) NO, NO, Not unless it’s got blue and white feathers and its got an attitude!!! (Tracey) “What does a Dove mean then?” (PM) “A Dove is usually ‘peace’ and what it is – its symbolic between you two – I think that fact is that basically at the moment (personal material follows here) – and you are ‘balancing’. (Tracey) “You have put it very diplomatically!”

(PM) “I tell you what there is here – you know those ‘Dulux Dogs’? (Tracey) “Old English Sheep Dogs? – its beautiful, absolutely beautiful – well the thing is, what you have to remember is that when you die you are going to be confronted by your animals.” (Much amusement and some concern at the fact that we, as a species, eat animals in vast numbers)

The following text is primarily about the thoughts of Patrick McNamara about the ‘Spiritual Dimensions’ – if I can put it that way. Conversations, which I recorded, prior to the ‘Circle’ being held upstairs.

(PM) “ An ‘Orb’ is basically a ‘spirit person’ –now they must have something to construct – so to pull it together – when it happens it comes into your Aura and reads your mind – so therefore basically – um – they sense what your doing by projection of thought – so this is why – black magic for instance what happens is they get a Coven of 13 people who stand around s……. one another pointlessly until the point of climax of both the male and the female they send out a thought and it impinges the atmosphere – because what your doing is your pulling in the Spirit and all the Spirits are being drawn in – its like certain Spirits draw on the energy of children and weak people –they want you to be afraid because then you magnetise the aura – because you are afraid you are actually strengthening them – because thoughts are living things – you are actually throwing out energy towards them – so every time you OOO!  OOO! OOO! there’s a big black hairy hand on the bed – eventually there WILL be a big black hairy hand on the bed! Because what will happen is that one of the ‘Earth Elementals’, one of the ‘Lower Elementals’ will actually use that – when you play with a Oujee Board what they do is they try to wind you up and then they get to a certain point then they can wrap themselves around the Cerebral Cortex of a person – and it might be a spirit that’s held to Earth, for instance who wants sexual pleasure for instance – they haven’t got a physical body so what they do is they wrap themselves around your cerebral cortex, then they send you out and you get absolutely pissed and you end up in bed the next morning with a very large lady – you think ‘What happened?’ you don’t experience it – they do! The point is that unfortunately what happens with that is you then become obsessed – what happens is when they are actually in here, it takes something like an illness to get rid of them or someone to actually remove them from your aura – this is why with an alcoholic for instance – basically – if he goes near a pub – they are actually hanging around outside a pub door and they are waiting to be able to find somebody who is weak – you can sense them and see them – they are waiting for someone who is weak – how many times has a person gone to a pub and had a drink and had a punch up and then thought ‘ I don’t know what came over me – its not me! – well it wasn’t! The point is, it is all down to willpower and like likens to like – if you are weak willed – a weak willed person will come and take you over. Like is drawn to like – so this is why – if you have got weak willed persons who are held to Earth – they are weak – therefore they are here because they don’t want to continue on and go into the Light – they don’t want to be held responsible – once they get there suddenly they have got to go through this whole review of their life and they don’t want to end up in a place which is filled with people like themselves – and they don’t want that – so therefore they dominate and they bully the lower spirits around them and this is why you might get a band of evil spirits with one ‘nasty’ at the top – basically he is only empowered by their weakness – ‘Legion’ – ‘Band of Legion’ All spirits – we are all spiritual kind – we all have good and bad faculties and what you do is – when your born on the Earth you are tempted by certain things – everyone goes through different phases – food, money, etc – and this is why you have certain things in life which stop you – hangovers, etc – the general ideas is that you learn and you balance – at the end of your life whatever you’ve learned – you’ll be drawn to the people – spirits that you deserve to be with because you’ve learned enough to be with those people – on top of that you also learn how to control your five basic senses – so you can start to cope with the thirty six senses at the next level – but the reality is you will only go as far as you – yourself – can expand on the Earth – simple as that – you judge yourself. There is a form of reincarnation but it is not everyone’s cup of tea and not everyone does it and the reality is – you have got to earn the right to be on the Earth as well – a lot of the lower spirits are actually on lower levels – they are in dark horrible places surrounded by dark horrible people – its what you are – what you sow so shall you reap – you judge yourself by your actions – because every thought that you have goes from your mind into your psychic body or your patient record – into the aura.”

(PM) “When a Circle forms, for instance, our Circles – I always ask for protection for everybody in our Group and if you actually saw what actually appears believe you me you would not like to take them on. When you hold a Circle you generate a lot of energy between you which magnetises the atmosphere so that they can use it to manifest and come through – when the Circle ceases –everybody closes down that’s why I close everybody down – your closed down – that energy is not there – when you are natural psychics like Tracey or Jan – what happens is that they will then get into your aura and try to open it up – but as I said – like likens to like – its just a case of you saying well look ‘P… Off!!!’ What it comes down to is – you must have faith in yourself and must believe that you are more powerful than them – you are the strength – because you are – you are incarnate – you are much more powerful than they are. What we do is – we are asking them to come in because we want to produce evidence – the important thing is to get evidence on film – but not just ‘Orbs’ we want people – we want conversations – the only time that’s going to happen is when the atmosphere is right – when we’ve got the right guys – this can take years and years but when we do – when we do it can be absolutely amazing – really incredible – where you might have three or four mediums and they are all working for different functions – superb – absolutely superb – when we’ve got furniture floating around the room – ‘orbs’ floating around – actual physical spirits walking around – voices coming out of nowhere – all these things exist – ask Karl, he’s seen them.”

(Myself) “Can I ask you how people seem to spontaneously see spirits? Is it true or are these things actually real?”(PM) “No! there are different forms of ‘Spirit’ – you have got – you’ve got what I call relay ghosts which are quite literally a memory caught in the vibration of the stonework or the timber of the building and in that way – its like a loop or repetition on a day, every year you’ll see this particular ghost in a certain place – and that’s a ‘loop ghost’- caused by a traumatic experience which has magnetised the aura or – err – magnetised a particular area. Now, that’s totally different from a sentient spirit, which is coming through and communicating.” (Karl) “The Roman Soldiers at York are a ‘recording’. (Tracey) “Can anyone see them or mostly ‘sensitive’ people?” (PM) “Mostly ‘sensitive people’- coz your vibrations are basically slightly faster so therefore you can pick up on …..” (Janet) “What about that guy who was sitting in our Inglenook the night I had the flue and was sitting up – I was propped up on the Sofa in the middle of the night and there he was and then he got up and walked out.” (PM) “Well obviously, if your more sensitive it makes you more prone to it – but – umm – no there are lots of different ‘phantasms’ and there’s lots of spirits – there’s lots of spirits which don’t have any classification – once you start talking about them – you wouldn’t understand what an ‘earth elemental’ is – you wouldn’t understand what a ‘nature spirit’ is – unless you’ve actually experienced it” (Tracey) “That’s what I’m seeing” (PM) “Yes, yes, you are - - its like Nick with the ‘Shadows’ (Nick had reported seeing ‘shadows’ outside the house) – they are ‘nature spirits’ but you see once again you’re sitting in a Circle – your developing as well………….the whole point of it is that it also depends upon your own personal guides and guardians that are around you how well you develop and how much they want you to develop in that particular field – coz they want you to do whatever task you have come down to Earth to do in the first place – they want you to learn certain lessons and expand in certain ways.”

(Nick) “Some ‘Earth Elementals’ are ‘man-beast’ (PM) “Yes like the one at Lech Castle which was constructed from a ‘lower element’…….. you remember what I was talking about? – they are constructed from all the fear and all the stress of all the people who were thrown down into that – umm – pit – I mean they pulled out something like three cartloads of bones – human bones and they pulled out a watch that was dated 1873 – so somebody was thrown down even then – so – umm – what happens is – because – as I said – all these thoughts are going out – somebody who is lying there pierced through and is dying and may take three or four weeks to die – slowly starvation – lack of water, what have you – living off the water pouring off  the walls and screaming out revenge! – pain! – horror! - and ‘lower elementals’ come along and say ‘Oh, that’s handy’ – it’s a bit like frightening a kid – they can draw the energy – and each time these wicked people do this – of course, it gets stronger and stronger…………..”

(Janet) “What if you had a death like that and you didn’t really deserve it? – its not really fair!” (PM) “Well, the point is that – well no, you say you didn’t really deserve it – but you don’t really know what you may have done in the past for instance, and you don’t really know – what you’ve come down to learn – maybe you’ve chosen that death for a particular reason because – (Janet) “Your not one of those who say that all cripples are cripples because they have been really bad in a previous existence?” (PM) “No, no, well let me put it this way – when you get an evil man – sometimes an evil man will show compassion to an animal – now, I’ve known bank robbers and murderers who were total bastards a couple of which have died recently – they were really big men – and I mean basically they would think nothing of strangling a man – would not even think about it – and yet one of them had little Chitzu Dogs and when one of them broke its leg he cried like a baby – compassion you see – compassion has to start somewhere and basically its through sacrifice even in the Animal Kingdom – its through sacrifice that these other people learn, but some people have to go through the pain – so its like – err – a wicked man basically  may end up with a woman he has to nurse through an illness and whilst at one point he may really hate the fact that he has got to do this he shows compassion and then learns how to love through that compassion through that pain and that’s the very..(Janet) “I don’t know because it can work the other way – he had to nurse his father for about twenty years, (Here she is referring to me) ……”(PM) “The point is you learn lessons in different ways and you learn compassion in different ways and the point is some people can cope and some people can’t  - the reality is that nothings wasted – its all such a big ‘macro puzzle’ it is very difficult for one individual to say I can give you the answers to it. I mean, in my lifetime, I’ve had a partner I’ve had to nurse and watch die, quite literally in my arms and the reality is it made me – instead of being bitter – it made me a much stronger and better person because I learned compassion – I was a very, very hard person – (Janet) “It softened you a bit” (PM) “It made me realize how important compassion was, how important other people’s attitudes were and how they relate to you and then, basically, you start to look at people in a different way – you – you grow, you expand – I mean, nobody likes pain but you learn from the painful things in life and not only do you learn but it enriches you in a way because once you’ve experienced these feelings you can understand how other people are thinking – what they are going through because you have been through that experience – you know how they feel”.

(PM) “As I say, nothing is wasted, the compassion is there and you learn and you grow from it. “As a medium – most medium’s lives are very, very hard and very, very painful because they learn, they grow – the compassion makes them more sensitive – they can learn how to control their vibrations and its part and parcel with sensitivity that you feel - its because you understand more than you did – (Janet “You see more”) – you see more you understand more and you hurt – you hurt because other people hurt”. (Janet) “I am always picking up on other people’s moods and it affects my own mood” (PM) “You see – the simple fact is you get to a certain point of balance that you’ve got to understand how far you can go – how much you can tolerate as an individual as well and you have to learn that balance between being a nice person and being a twat!!! People can take you for a ride – (Janet “You have to learn how to defend yourself”) – you have to learn that balance of compassion.”

(Janet) “What I’m worried about is that when his, (My), Father died he was convinced that there was nothing - so does that mean that for his father there is nothing?” (PM) “No, I mean what it means basically is he will spend a certain amount of time – err – in isolation – he will sit there – he will feel ‘I’m still existing, why am I still existing?’ (Janet) “He’ll still be able to think?” (PM) “Oh yes – he’ll think ‘well hang on a minute, I’m brown bread – but – I’m still thinking – he’ll have people coming round him saying ‘ Your dead, you were wrong, your dead!’ – I lost my father in January of last year and now you see I was quite close to my father but my father was – err – was basically what you might call a good Catholic in his own way and he didn’t like what I did because he was frightened by it – but the simple fact was that as I had it on film and could show him – he could see there was definitely something about it – before he died last year I took him to Rome – I took him to Paris, to Amsterdam and Belgium and he wanted to go to Rome, so I took him to Rome. When my mother was alive she wouldn’t travel anywhere – she was a very strong, powerful woman – I was very close to my mother – err – she died five years before my father – but, the simple fact was that before my father died he had an experience where, basically, he saw a mist coming out of the wall, sparks and they actually told him  ‘look we are giving you a second chance – you have done certain things and your time will come fairly soon”.…………….  he was afraid – he missed my mother – he said he missed her so much that he did not want to carry on – he said, ‘really, I’m so tired’”. – (Material of a more personal family nature continued at this point).

(Tracey) “ I hope that this is not an impertinent question – but you were close to your mum and dad – being that you’ve got these abilities is it still hard to lose someone although you know you can carry on seeing them?”(PM) “No, no, what happens – everybody grieves – everybody hurts and the reality is – yes, it helps you – the point is you have got to come to terms with it and you have to – I used to speak to my father every night on the telephone – I used to speak to my mother every night on the telephone – we were very close – whatever happens – your mother and your father are your friends, your staple, your anchor in life – and when they go – you become uncertain – there is something powerful missing because you’ve always had them there – if you like – as a ‘backstop’- they have always been there for advice, they have always been there ever since you were a child. Suddenly, they are gone and you are very vulnerable by yourself and while you believe – well I know – I don’t believe - I know – that they are in a place and are much better off now – I grieve for me because I need them – I miss them.” (Tracey) “Do you still speak with them?” (PM) “Oh yes – after my mother died she actually marched up the stairs, opened the front door and slammed it – and there were six people standing in the front room when she did it! My father, on the night of his funeral – I saw a blue mist and he was in it – I said ‘Karl get the camera’ – and you will see a big Orb – that’s my father on the night of his Funeral.

(Janet) “What happens to a person who starts off sane and then becomes demented they are sort of half there but not all there?” (PM) “Well, as far as that’s concerned basically, once again, its part and parcel of the learning process itself – they are still developing. What happens when you die – your Aura basically is all that’s left – the physical body – all the pains of the physical body are created by the elements of the Earth – usually it is the chemicals in the body – so if you have madness, if you have arthritis or are blind it is caused by a chemical imbalance or a problem in the body. When your body goes all you have left is the real you – or the soul or spirit – which means that all chemical dependencies, all physical problems go – all the madness goes and then you review all your life. When you die you get this chance to review your life and you see how your life has affected all the people around you – for good and for evil.”

(Janet) “What about brain damaged babies?” (PM) “Well, brain damaged babies – once again – um – they touch the Earth for a reason and some of the spirits that inhabit some of the people are not human.”

(PM) “Once you learn how to love – you can be an animal like a dog for instance – and you can learn how to expand when your loved – because your loved your spirit then becomes bigger and stronger so you - so basically – your average chicken is not loved its just the run-of-the-mill chicken – its enjoyed at meal times and that’s it! – or in a feather mattress – this is something entirely different – it is one level – it is like a pool of energy – it continues – but when you have an individual – its like you were talking about the bad spirits – they grow on energy – they grow on negative energy – well if you can imagine a spirit growing on positive energy, growing on love, growing on understanding – learning that its master loves it and every time the master does a certain thing he wants to reward the master by performing a trick – so he’s growing – he’s expanding  and he’s doing it because he wants to because he’s expressing love he’s expressing affection – so therefore he grows – this is how the animals – just like evolution – you can argue that the Theory of Evolution, for instance, does work, but it also works spiritually – everybody grows so ;you can grow from a small animal to a human being into a spirit, into a higher spirit, into an angel, into an archangel and beyond, can you understand? Everything is expansion and growth, everything is about growth – there are millions and millions of bits of life force, you’ve got ants, you’ve got molecules that only last for a split second………………No energy ever dies it is never dissipated it only becomes another form of energy – so if you can imagine the energy and mass that builds up to a certain point which becomes a solid unified entity which is a soul which has earned the right to be a soul – its free thinking, it cannot be dissipated, it cannot be destroyed – it expands, it grows and grows through incarnation, through experience, through development. Once you exist, you exist. Even with evil. Evil will expand on evil and this is why you have the ‘dark regions’ because you have the good and the bad, the Ying and the Yang – but nothing ever stays in darkness for ever – it is given the option to come into the light – just like on Earth you are given the option of taking the hard route or the easy route, but the hard route is sometimes really the easy route – you have to understand the whole situation – it comes down to your attitude and growth, sacrifice and love. Love conquers all – and it does!”

(Janet) “Is there such a thing as a ‘Higher Entity’ above us?” (PM) “Yes”. (Janet) “Are we part of him or totally separate?” (PM) “Yes, yes remember the human body – remember that we were talking about Evolution – you look at cell cultures, you look at how cells replicate one another – look at the human body – what’s my body made of? – millions of cells – each one separate life force and yet my body – everything that my body consisted of 15 years ago is now dead, its all gone – every last one of my cells has been replicated and the only thing that is left – all of my brain cells have been replicated is – (Janet “Your software – the imprint”) – the imprint is the Spirit or driving force which holds it all together – because if you don’t have the matrix that’s holding it together then you have nothing.”

(Janet) “The trouble is, over time, during evolution, you get mistakes, they are quite regular mistakes” (PM) “But why are they making the mistakes – do you know why they are making the mistakes?” (Janet) “There would not be much evolution without it, there is more evolution going on through these mistakes than what they call ‘genetic drift’ (PM) “The strongest one, the strongest one – you might have six different kids, and they go off in different directions – one is prepared for it and one is not – one kid drowns because he never leaned to swim, another guy thinks he can fly and the other guy learns how to use a parachute – I mean, the reality is, basically, that expansion again – the Ying and the Yang, the Good and the Bad, you have a choice – you can either do it the right way or you can do it the wrong way – to get it right you must follow your instinct of what you believe is right.”

(Janet) “Are we a part of the ‘Higher Being?” (PM) “We are part of that great organism which is called ‘God’ but, once again, if you look at the human body and all of its billions of cells the little fragment of dried skin which is falling off my finger has no idea of how this super intelligent organ the brain is working.”

(PM) “(About Janet) The general idea of her sitting in a Circle is for her to expand, to grow so that she can give other people readings and to be aware of Spirit in a positive sense but you have to break down all of the problems and fears that you have around you and that is very difficult especially when you are with somebody who is negative (This is myself being discussed), but as I said, he’s coming round – there’s nothing better than someone that’s been converted – I mean he’s found his road to Damascus because he’s seeing Orbs – he’s seeing Ghosts – he’s seeing that clairvoyance actually works, he’s seeing that there is something there- it does exist so now, like Paul, his blindness is there, he is walking about blind but he’s really rather looking for answers but he’s not lashing out any more – he’s thinking, well maybe I should try to understand this but how do I come to terms with this because I don’t have any groundwork – I don’t know where to start- who do I believe – whose an expert on this – we’ve been asking these questions for thousands of years – where do I come from.”

Throughout this time, Karl had been setting up the equipment in the bedroom upstairs for the Circle and had connected up my viewing screen downstairs. In response to much excitement from Janet, Tracey, Patrick and Karl, I joined them clustered in front of it. They all seemed able to see a ‘figure’ seated in front of the ‘Cabinet’. Look as hard as I could, I could see nothing there. (Tracey) “There is definitely twinkles” (Janet) “There is someone definitely sitting on that chair – there’s something of the size and shape of a person”  (The chair mentioned was that later occupied by Tracey during Circle). What with ‘orbs’ and a possible uninvited guest already upstairs it looked as though the Circle would be an eventful one.

Haunted corridor leads to the upstairs bedroom used for ‘Circle’. On the right hand of the photo is a door leading into an exquisite little bedroom, with a cosy fireplace, chintzy mullioned window overlooking lawns and hedgerows and hoary old beams everywhere. But, this room has a secret. It is known as ‘Mary Rose’s Room’. Mary Rose is a young girl, who lived and died long ago and yet she is still here. Janet wanted to sleep there and felt ‘someone breathing in the bed beside me’ and then she ‘experienced a vortex’ and promptly departed the room. The following week, I took over this comfy chamber and slept undisturbed. Ghost? What Ghost? – I thought that the embroidered roses on the pillowcases might be more ‘ghostly, until Janet had her experiences. I trust her judgment completely and she is not the only one to have seen or felt the presence of ‘Mary Rose’…..

Haunted staircase leads to the corridor above and the ‘Circle Room’. A couple of weeks back, Janet encountered the ghost of poor little ‘Bettie’ here. Just for an instant, this downtrodden maid from the times of Good Queen Bess, who saw fewer than 20 summers alive, was standing at the foot of the stairs and then she was gone.

9pm CIRCLE

Ensconced on my chair I could view the events upstairs. The camera, using infrared, faced directly onto the ‘Cabinet’ and Patrick McNamara seated before it. However, I could only get a good view of one other participant, Tracey, seated to his right and this is clearly inadequate as a visual record. We are contemplating major improvements to our visual recording system, including several cameras and split screen monitoring facility.

Much care has to be taken to ensure that even feet are touching, once everyone is seated comfortably. After everyone was settled and my visual link checked, Patrick asked that everyone join hands and they started with the Lords Prayer. He then recited the following:

“Great White Spirit I ask for your protection and guidance for every one of us who are in this Circle I ask that we may be protected from all harm be it real or imagined, physical or astral, spiritual. I call upon our Guides and Guardians to draw near to us and I ask for help in communication and I ask for healing to add to this Circle. I ask that each person here might be healed in mind, body, spirit and soul and I ask that our Guardian Angels may be strengthened and help us to communicate with our friends in Spirit.”

(PM) “Now immediately, do you smell that smell? – it’s a dank old clothes smell – its urine and old clothes. “God Bless you – friends I ask that all that may be necessary for communication may be put into place – I ask that all the chemists, scientists and all of our friends in Spirit especially our Spirit Circle and all our friends who have sat in the Circle who are now in Spirit may draw forward and join this Circle. I call upon our friends in Spirit to come on into the light of this Circle – come in and communicate with us.”

Tracey mentioned ‘white lights’ above the Circle and eventually Karl, too, saw them.

(PM) “Can I ask how many of you your eyes are starting to water?” (Tracey) “Yes.”
(PM) “God bless you, welcome friends – Mary Rose would you like to come through and communicate in any way that you can? The energy is slowly building.”

(PM) “We need a surface of some kind for them to make a noise on – that is what they are saying.” (We have no round table and are seeking one at present)

(PM) “Tom, Tom, Thomas – I am feeling cold draughts and it is a very hot room – I’m feeling cold draughts around me which means they are drawing energy – please draw energy from the Circle, from the flowers.” (Two huge bunches are in the room)

(PM to Tracey) “There is someone between you and I and there is someone standing behind Nick - I’ve got the name ‘Bob’. ‘Robert’”
(PM asked Karl to put on the soft background music – Mendelssohn ‘Midsummer Nights Dream’ Overture)
(Tracey) “Is there someone behind Jan?” (PM) “Yes, and there is someone between us – there is an Indian here. “

(PM) “There, there are thin cold breezes now” (Tracey) “I am starting to get cold breezes” (PM) “Yes, behind us, coming from the Cabinet.”

(PM) “Everyone will be itchy (this seemed to be affecting everyone) – and now you will see the mist around the trumpet – can you see the blue mist?”

(Janet) “The top of the trumpet is disappearing totally”. (PM) “Yes, what I’m seeing is a blue mist all around the trumpet because it is actually light in the room – (Tracey. “Yes, it is”) – its light in the room because it shouldn’t be because it’s a dark room, but you can see light and you can see little clouds – if you look closely – (Tracey; “I can see them where the recorder is and I can see it disappearing”) – yes and also above us there are clouds also there are little variable little cold draughts coming from behind me – you’ll feel them in a moment.  Can you see the light all around us it really is – there’s a misty light – there’s mist all around – bless you friend come in!”

(At this point it was decided to change the music, preference being for Gregorian Chant)

(Nick) “Ooh I just saw a little orb at the top of the trumpet – did you see it – a little energy spiralling up”(PM) “Yes…….but look at this, where my hand is – look see my hand going through that – see the cloud there – look.” (Tracey) “It might be my imagination but I think that I can see someone behind Jan”. (PM) “There is someone behind Jan – there’s a girl, a small girl, just here.” (Tracey) “What about the other side?” (PM) “There is someone there but I can’t make out who they are – it’s a woman”.

(Karl changed the music to Gregorian Chant)

There appeared to be some kind of transfiguration phenomena happening to Karl. Tracey could see an old man’s face and PM saw a ‘mist’ in front of his face. (PM) “Look he’s got a beard as well” (Tracey) “You know ‘Great Expectations’ Magwitch’ you look like Magwitch.” (PM) “You look like Lord Burghley”.

(Karl) “I saw an ‘orb light’ there, Malcolm, near the trumpet.” (Tracey) “There’s a misty cloud above them”. (PM) “The room is full of ‘Spirit Mist’ – quite literally as I am looking across here there’s so much light in the room that its artificial light created by ‘Spiritness’.” (Tracey) “Its like sitting in a fog”. (PM) “Like sitting in a fog – its luminescent fog – it shouldn’t be there should it?” (Nick) “I know what you mean, it does seem light”. (PM) “Its luminescent fog – if you look at the top end of the trumpet just look at the top.”

(Nick) “It seems light – and I almost expect to see the rafters – but I cannot”. (PM) “Yes, yes there’s light all around us and as you look at the trumpet there you can see the ‘spirit mist’”.

(PM) “What I am going to do Tracey, is put my hand on you knee, (This is to maintain the link of the Circle) – put your hand up just there – (Tracey. “It feels heavy”) – (Janet. “It’s getting lumpy”) – (PM. “Feel your hand”) – (Tracey. “Its gone cold”) – (PM. “Can you feel that?) – (Tracey. “It feels heavy”) – (PM. “Yes – now, feel the draught – feel the draught coming”) – (Karl. “There’s a light above your head Tracey”) – (PM. “I feel detached. - I am being pulled back – very strange – strange”)

(PM) “Can you feel that coldness between us – the draughts? – there’s a cold draught coming from behind us from the curtain here – bless you friends, well………….”

(Several minutes of silence)

(PM) “Its interesting, they are drawing a lot of energy from you Tracey” (Tracey) “I’m feeling cold. Yes, I can feel a presence – there is something here – you know what I can smell now – I can smell horses!” (PM) “Horses - yes, that’s the smell – horses yes.” (Tracey) “It smells like – like old leather” (PM) “Yes, its horse manure its horse urine – horse urine – the smell of horses – and now this is really intensifying.”

(PM) “Bless you friend – come into the light of this Circle use the energy here.”

(PM) “Bless you, will you come in” (Tracey) “I can hear tapping, and again, and again and again”(PM) “Bless you, come in”

(PM) “Break your hands but keep your feet in contact – Tracey bring you hand up towards the Cabinet behind me – just keep your hand there for a second and tell me what happens - (Tracey. “A tapping behind me and again and again”) – (Karl? “And again”)  –come on friend – bless you – can you feel the vibration running through you Karl? (Karl and others. “Yes”) – going right the way through us.” (Tracey. “That wasn’t me that was someone behind me – Oh my hands gone really, really warm”). (PM) “Yes – (at this point I heard a gentle sound as if a small object had been jogged or moved) – you heard that – (All. “yes”) – that came from inside the Cabinet – bless you friend – DID YOU HEAR THAT MALCOLM – IT CAME FROM INSIDE THE CABINET WE’RE GETTING A VIBRATION THAT IS RUNNING RIGHT THROUGH US AT THE MOMENT – IT’S A VERY STRONG VIBRATION – (Janet. “A trembling”) – YES, A TREMBLING and I can feel energy coming from the Cabinet behind me and also there’s a sense of light around me – I can sense blue – err – sky blue – I can sense sky blue around me.” (Tracey) “I am sensing blue twinkles behind you.” (PM) “Yes, sky blue…………………you are still touching my shoulder? – (Tracey) “I am actually trying to feel the blue twinkles.”(PM) “Your still touching me aren’t you Tracey?”  (Tracey.) “Yes”. – (PM) “My Shoulder” – (Tracey.) “Not now”. – (PM) “ well somebody is – (Tracey.) “Its not me”. – (PM) “that’s you” – (“Yes”) – somebody was touching me down here”. (Tracey) “It feels so heavy around here behind you”. (PM) “Yes”. (Tracey) “As though there’s………” (PM) “Elsie, who’s Elsie? (Nick) “That’s my Nan.” (PM) “Elsie’s here”. (Nick) “Hello Elsie, hello Nan!”(PM) “Elsie, would you like to come through? – it is her”.( Nick) “How are you Nan?” (PM) “She’s OK– she’s trying to build the energy and she’s saying its quite exciting from her viewpoint trying to prove.” (Nick) “Did she like the poems I bought her once for her birthday – she was a little bit embarrassed about that – she was a very shy lady.”(PM) “Were there three of them? (Nick. “There was a little book, I think – I can’t remember how many were in there.”)……………(PM to Tracey.) “You are still touching me aren’t you?” (Tracey) “No, I am not”. (PM) “Right, somebody is touching my shoulder and it must be you Elsie – it cant be anybody else – I’ve got three fingers in my shoulder – MALCOLM CAN YOU SEE ANYTHING ON MY RIGHT SHOULDER? RIGHT, JUST WHERE THE COLLAR BLADE – COLLAR BONE IS – I’M FEELING A GRIP ON MY SHOULDER AS THOUGH THERE ARE THREE FINGERS GRIPPING ME – YES – AS I SAY – YOU SAW WHERE TRACEY PUT HER HAND ON ME BUT, AS I SAID, IT IS VERY STRANGE THIS.”

(Nick) “Ask her if she still watches Coronation Street – she used to love it?”

(PM) “Can you hear the voice, listen can you hear a woman’s voice? It’s all about Violet Carson. (According to Nick this lady liked Port) (PM) “Why am I seeing Iddi Amin? (Tracey) I had a book – I read a book on Iddi Amin”

(Karl) Tracey, are you thinking of buying a white horse or grey – I’ve just seen a white or grey horse with a black mane?” (PM) “Sorry, I’ve just got to stand for a moment.” (Tracey) “No, but I have been thinking a lot about that new thing they are doing for Kent – that white horse thing.”

(Nick) “Patrick is Elsie still there?” (PM) “Yes, she is……umm – do you know why she is showing me its either a bracelet or a watch – a small woman’s watch – I’m not going to alter it – I’m seeing a small woman’s bracelet.” (Tracey) “Do you see a colour?” (PM) “I think its silver colour”

(At this point, at around 10.40pm, I saw a very strange effect on the screen, which coincided with Janet seeing that ‘Orb’ – a vaguely defined wide ‘shape’ actually crossed my field of view. It was half as wide as the screen itself and moved quickly. It was only partially opaque and had soft edges. It moved from right to left . I am satisfied that everyone was accounted for, in terms of their locations)

(K) “Its got a candle on it –just one and the fruit cake – its an odd shape – its kind of high and narrow and round.”(Tracey) “Is it like a birthday cake?” (K) “Yes”.

(Nick) “Is it somebody who lives here Patrick?” (PM) “Yes, somebody who lived here – (“Thomas?”) – Thomas is here – he is now here.” (Tracey) “Evening Thomas” (PM) “Good Evening – you will notice the atmosphere will change suddenly.” (Tracey) “Thomas, you have ignored us lately.” (PM) “Thomas is saying that he knows that you have not been well lately and he did not wish to distress you.” (Tracey to Thomas) “Thankyou”.

(K) “They are showing me a Gaoler’s Chamber with keys on it” (Tracey) “The gates have got to be locked” (K) “OK”

(K) OK, I am getting an Indian – not somebody related to the house – an Indian- a Red Indian.”

(PM) “I’ve got someone trying to communicate with me but it is very faint and I keep hearing them and I am trying to bring them in – one of them just called my name – she’s saying ‘Nancy’ and I’m not going to alter it.” (Tracey) “There are bright lights around the trumpet between Karl and the trumpet.”

(PM) “There’s a spirit entity here – its trying to construct something and it comes from an atmosphere which is predominately bright blue – I keep seeing this figure – like a blue glass figure – something has just walked in front of the trumpet.”

(K) “There’s a priest coming in – I see a priest.”

(PM) “Now, if you’ll all join hands again to boost the energy again.”

(Tracey) “Something’s round by my chair.”

(PM) “Now, you can see all the mist around the trumpet?” (Several. “Yes”) – its very, very strong and the lights coming from the top of the trumpet – little dings of light.”

(A longish silence follows)

(PM) “Does anyone hear a tingling? –like a bell ringing – a tingling sound – I can hear you – can you let others in the room hear you- are you Nancy – are you Nancy Sheen – is that who you are – can you give us a tap – possibly on the trumpet?”

(K) “I heard a laugh!” (Nick) “I heard something – yes” - (PM) “You heard a laugh? – hello Nancy! (K) It was like, Ha! Ha! (PM) Yes, You heard it! – it’s a woman’s voice – (K) “Like an echo” – (PM) “That’s it! – that’s it! –  you heard it as well – that’s good – that’s what I was hearing – I was hearing a woman’s voice she was calling Patrick – Hello Nancy, hello darling – Nancy Sheen was a good friend of Doris Stokes’

(K)” There was a footfall” (Tracey) “I’m getting old and musty – what was that noise? - like a dragging coming towards you Jan.” (Nick) “I keep seeing a cross with circular bits on each end.”

(Another long silence)

(PM) “Can you see the orange light – the energy round the trumpet? I’ve got a weight on my shoulders.” (K) “So have I”. (Tracey) “So have I”  (PM) “I’ve got a weight on my shoulders.” (K) “My neck is really stiff”(PM) “Somebody is pushing down on me – there’s energy coming down my arms into the Circle and you might feel a vibration – I’ve got Montgomery here as well – Montgomery of Al Amein – why he should come here I don’t know – right now everyone break – stretch have a good stretch”

(The Circle had been sitting now for nearly two hours, it was 10.55pm).

After a short break they sat down and PM wanted the orange light on low. (PM) “Look at this – I can feel the energy around me put your hand towards it – just lift your hand up and down and you will feel your hand going through it – there’s an old lady here – she’s next to Nick – on his right side – umm – can you smell that smell of old clothes again? – (Tracey) “Yes - it’s been with me quite a lot this evening.” – (PM) “Yes” – (Tracey) “Who is the old lady?” (PM) “This old lady here – she’s something to do with Nick I think – (Nick. “Is it Elsie?”) – could be, I don’t know – to be quite honest with you – I don’t know – I’m getting a confusion here, I’m getting a trumpet moving above me – its an etheric trumpet – I’ve just asked them to give us something – can you give us some lights in the room? – some kind of evidence please? - on the film – if possible – can you see this Tracey – move your hands here look – can you see this my hands going through a mass – (Nick) “I saw a light up there – did you see that? ”- (K) “Yes” – (PM) “If you put your hands – just gently lower your hands – here can you feel something on your hands – the warmth? - (Tracey) “Underneath yes”- (PM) – put your hand a little bit further – can you feel that moving around  - move your fingers slightly backwards and forwards – can you feel it underneath your hand – (Tracey. “Its hot”) – wave your hands backwards and forwards and you will feel it on the palm of your hand – can you feel the movement – (“The pressure”) – yes – there’s a pressure coming up on your hand – (I’m getting something over the top of my fingers) – that’s it it is coming over your hand – this energy here is coming out of the Cabinet – see this light – watch my hand –its ectoplasmic energy – your eyes should be watering now – its building here – there’s somebody here – its trying to build up – come on Dear, your welcome my friend – come and materialise for us………………..”

(At this point my Dictaphone batteries gave out and I made notes of the final hour)

At about this time Janet experienced a feeling of, ‘falling’, of, ‘feeling really heavy’ and later learned that she has reached the point where her latent abilities as a ‘Trance Medium’ are becoming apparent. She found this very alarming at the time.

On the instruction of PM, the Circle was moved back towards the camera. This gave me a grandstand view of the Cabinet. Lights very low, blue light only. Tracey reported seeing a “swirling in and out of shape” PM agreed.

Janet and Tracey felt the ‘floor move’. Tracey could see “Twinkles”. According to PM there was ‘a big guardian there’ and Janet said that she felt as if she is trying to ‘see round something’. PM said that he was there to protect Janet and Tracey because they were both anxious..

It was now 11.15pm and PM reported that he could feel ‘cold energy’ and the ‘room slanting to the left’. Janet agrees. She is feeling dizzy and anxious. ‘Not used to losing control’. The ‘floors moving, her seat was tipping to the right’. PM told her to ‘go with it’.

PM reported an ‘ammonia smell’, Janet reported her eyes were tingling.

11.22pm. PM removed the flowers from the Cabinet. Janet reported a ‘really strange floaty feeling’ – felt light headed

Janet said she could see something forming over the flowers – she could feel it unto PM’s shoulder –‘its like electricity’.

11.25pm. Janet is standing with PM. PM put his hands next to the flowers and energy was coming from the flowers by Janet. There were two spirits there. Tracey could feel energy by the flowers.

Janet could see Thomas, bible in hand, standing by the door. Tracey had her hair tickled.

PM, seated before the Cabinet could feel a ‘warm barrier’ at knee height and apparently so could the others.

At 11.35pm. PM positioned Tracey before the Cabinet and guided her hands and asked her if she could see a ‘glowing light’. She agreed that she could see ‘twinkles’ and ‘a mist following my hand’

Tracey said she felt a blast of wind and PM said it was ‘Nancy’. Tracey could see her hands ‘going through something –“ I can feel a warmth,” She saw her hand lit up as though illuminated by a torch.

11.45pm. Tracey sees a ‘powerful swirley mist by the Cabinet’.
PM said that he had been shown a ‘diamond necklace’ three times so far.

11.46pm. Karl tells Nick that there’s a body buried on your land – in a field which had a scarecrow. It transpired that the victim is a certain ‘Gregory’, who died after being kicked by a horse – the latter was then shot for his pains. Karl told Nick to look for a badger’s set and a pond. Nick knew the site.

(Karl) “He likes the fact that he had been recognised……..He showed me his face – aged 30s or 40s , black straight hair, whiteness around jaw, broken and smashed. He is buried near the badger set and pond”.

11.50pm. Tracey reports ‘a metallic taste’.

Karl is shown an open book and asked who was hung in a tree?

11.58pm. PM got someone playing the spinet.

Apparently, there was a spirit to PMs left, another one – a man - near Janet and two in front of the Cabinet and a child by Tracey. Between Nick and Tracey there was a ‘Greek Lady with veil and scarf’.

Midnight. Prayers and finish.
