March 8th 2008 Patrick McNamara
Particular thanks and compliments to our hosts for the evening, Nick and Tracey. Upon our arrival, amid a cold somewhat dreary evening, we were greeted by the sight of a huge roaring log fire and regaled with delicious food. We were free to explore their wonderful ancient home, which presented us with a rare opportunity to examine a scarce example of late medieval vernacular architecture, presented free of the,‘improvements,’ which so often effectively despoil such examples of our built heritage.
Venue: Greenways Farm, Kent.
Persons Present: Patrick McNamara, Karl, Nick Jones, Tracey Milliams, Richard Beale and Oona, Janet Blair, Malcolm Dyer.
Time: 5pm until around 1am.
Weather conditions: Cold, occasional winds and light rain at times.
Notes on venue: Greenways Farmhouse, is a ‘Wealden Hall House’, timber framed, dating from c1380-1450, of four bay construction. As is usual in the case of such early buildings, it has been subject to considerable alterations over the centuries.
The location is rural and distant by around 1 mile from any major ‘A’ roads. This results in a relatively low ambient noise level.
Record of events: At 5pm, upon his arrival Patrick McNamara detected the spirit of a “man that looks like William Shakespeare” Dressed in late c16/early c17th garb of a black frock coat, cut in at the waist, shoes with buckles, black stockings, breeches with ties at the knee, bearded and holding a “knobbly stick with some sort of head to it”. He got the name of ‘Frances’ and that ‘James’ was on the throne in his day. He appears to have owned/had access or use of ‘two black horses, with ‘silver gingles on their harness’ of which ‘he was very proud’. There seemed to be some connection with a ‘Lutheran’ connected with the name ‘Guscott’ and a ‘woman pursued by a Lutheran’, (same one?). Upon being questioned about religious matter, he stated that he “ was not best pleased” with the policies of “King James”.
Next, PM detected the presence of “a lady working on a ‘mangle”. Date, c1910/20.
5.30pm, Richard Beale and Oona arrived. PM detected the presence of a “police sergeant named, Murray”. Tall and thin and he apparently is ‘Richard’s guide’. He was an “an old time copper, thinner than you” He repeatedly referred to, “pads on your knees – maybe there is a weakness there”. On the topic of Richard’s knees, the qualities and properties thereof were examined by PM and Richard, without any particular conclusions being reached upon their present state, or future disposition, which could, if spiritual sources were heeded, be eventually less than comfortable for their owner.
5.40pm, in one of the small upstairs bedrooms, PM detected the presence of ‘a young girl named Mary Rose, on the bed, in the company of ‘another young girl’. “Two girls haunt this room and one of them can see Tracey’s daughter.” Another girl, of the name of Rachel, a small statured girl, was present and she seems to have flourished in ‘a later era’. In the room too, was ‘a lay preacher’. This tiny room also hosted “an emaciated man, height 5’2” who lived in the Victorian Era. He worked on the land, had grey hair and a dragging foot.” Apparently, he had incurred an accident that had adversely affected his left side, forcing him to walk awkwardly. PM stated that “myriad animals haunt the building and even a raven is present”. In the subject room, a retriever was present.
PM detected the presence of, “Margaret” who appeared to be a deceased aunt of Tracey. Also, PM spoke of “a child in spirit giving a little nod.” This was a little girl. Glasses were shown to him, (Tracey has just invested in reading glasses) and “selling a house” was shown. PM thought that the meaning might well be, “You, (Tracey), will hear of someone selling a house”.
He then told Janet that, “your mother is here – an impression only as yet”.
6pm, Solar, (possibly the original ‘High End’, evidenced by the presence of fine joinery diagnostic of the location of this chamber in such a modest medieval dwelling): PM detected “Sidney Shelldrake”, who upon questioning stated that, “George 111 was on the throne”. Sidney Shelldrake did not live here. At this point, PM stated that he found it “very confusing because so many are trying to communicated at the same time”. “The energy is very fast, Vibrations speed up after you die.” He stated that,” everything is in your ‘Acacic Record,’(spelling?), which is ‘your aura’. “All of your thoughts are stored in your aura and all around you. The contents of your aura decide where you will go. You decide where you will go. You create your own heaven and hell. We create our own destiny”.
7.20pm: A certain well known deceased psychic named, ‘Gordon Higginson’, relayed a message to Janet through PM, to the effect that she should, “Open yourself up and you will be as good as me”.
Downstairs in the Living Room: Psychometry was attempted on the Dais Beam , PM stated that he felt/saw, “flames, fire, a ship connected with Holland, a Dutch ship, he felt that he was seeing the masts above from the Hold. He saw, “a man with a Lutheran Bible”. Some connection with “a Lutheran named Guscott”. He, “saw some really nasty things”. Apparently “He was actually here in this house. Staying here with somebody. Unwelcome at home.” He got a “man named Francis” and got the name, “Guscott”. “in a ship rolling slightly, can see masts, it is morning”. “Lots of violence, saw slaughter, interrelated with this house and in the time of ‘King James.”
7.35pm. PM identified Nick’s watch as originating from his grandfather, which he confirmed to be so. Malcolm gave his watch to PM and he got associations with “Italian cars, big engines, aircraft engines, a man with blond/ginger receding hair who loved sports cars, era of 20s and 30s named Jim or James Craddock and he may have been a Flight Lieutenant. The watch was worn by at lest two men.” He felt connections with aircraft and that the two men were very different “chalk and cheese”. One was associated with “sheet music, doing annotation on sheet music. The other like flying and possibly had associations with the RAF, twin cam engines”.
In fact, the watch is a ‘Section Leader’s Watch,’ war issue, 1940.
8.10pm, all assembled in an upstairs bedroom, which may have been the medieval ‘Low End’ or the reverse, (yet to be researched). PM and Karl assembled their equipment of lights, cameras and ‘Cabinet’ which took the form of a corner of the room divided off by a black hanging curtain.
At this point it became impossible to take notes due to poor light levels. I managed to record the names of ‘Margaret, Tom, Eddie, Elizabeth, Edmond, A Cavalier, A Nun, Roger and Ann – who apparently lived in the house, Michael Bentine, Edmund Hillary.
Richard reported seeing ‘blue lights’ and seeing/feeling a considerable succession of psychic phenomena, such as ectoplasm, lights, etc. The writer cannot personally confirm these facts.
After a long session in the dark, we adjourned downstairs to view the grateful vista of curry, salad and steaming hot drinks. Plenty of discussion ensued upon the all that had taken place.
Lovely evening.
