The Phenomenon of Photoplasm

An explanation of the photoplasm energy used in a physical circle with Patrick McNamara,

and a video clip of the phenomenon it can create.

Introduction

In the early 1990’s Patrick McNamara started a physical materialisation circle in north London. The physical circle was held in darkness as is the case with most physical circles today, and he produced physical materialisation phenomena. The spirit guides working with Ghostcircle, Patrick McNamara’s physical circle, started to experiment with Patrick over many years and with other physical mediums in developing a new materialisation energy. The spiritual guides stated aim was to develop and produce a new light sensitive energy which was termed “photoplasm” that could be used during physical mediumship circles to produce materialisation phenomena. It has taken many years and many physical circles to develop the photoplasmic energy and it is still being developed. Many physical circles today are now using this new energy while working with the spiritual guides.

Ectoplasm

Within a physical circle there is substance produced called “ectoplasm”[3], and it is used to create materialisation phenomena within physical circles. Ectoplasm is normally present in circles where there is total darkness (it has appear in bright sunlight but it is rare). Because ectoplasm is very sensitive to light any light present in a room would destroy the structure and could potentially harm the medium whose physical body is used to produce it. The great paranormal researcher and Nobel Laureate, Charles Richet a Professor of Physiology at the Sorbonne, coined the term ectoplasm. He confirmed through experimentation with physical mediums such as Eusapia Palladino and Eva. C. Kluski the very existence of ectoplasm. As said already, light or specifically white light was said to damage the delicate substance, and could potentially harm the mediums who were producing it. So, although it was occasionally photographed by photographic flash, investigators wanting proof were usually disappointed. Ectoplasm was also difficult to film except when a low level red light was allowed to be used. Although you can use Infra red light in dark rooms, such as infra red cameras, the infra red light used has been acknowledged to destroy ectoplasm. Thus any materialised forms or objects that are created from ectoplasm could not be easily recorded in visual form within the physical circle, and with so few physical mediums available to produce this phenomenon, combined with those who are actually willing to submit to some photography, it is almost impossible to get any decent pictures of materialisations.

Photoplasm

Because of the rarity of physical mediumship and the fragility of ectoplasm, there is hardly any hard empirical visual evidence captured by film camera. Although ectoplasm has been sampled from mediums and measured from physical circles in the past such as Charles Richet’s sample from physical medium Eusapia Palladino. Patrick McNamara understood that the only way you could prove the existence of the after life to a wide audience “was to capture materialisations on camera in lighted conditions.” To develop a new physical energy that was sensitive to light, Patrick McNamara set out a goal to work with spirit teams who are perfecting and refining this substance. In the late 1990’s around 1999, Patrick had some communications with spirit guides who said they would help him achieve this goal using a new energy which spirit said it was to be called “Photoplasm.” [1]

Definition

Photoplasm: Photoplasm or Photoplasmic energy, allows an etheric being or spirit, to materialise in red and blue light, or even white light without destroying the energy or causing undue physical harm to the physical medium. The photoplasmic energy is collected from individual members within a circle and not just the physical medium. In drawing a comparison between photoplasm and ectoplasm, the ectoplasmic energy is formed almost entirely through the physical medium and stays attached to the medium. With photoplasm, the energy is detached from the physical medium and uses a physical cabinet as a storage container instead of sitting inside of it as you do with ectoplasm. The photoplasm energy also allows a physical medium to sit outside of “the cabinet”. [6]

The difference between photoplasm and ectoplasm [2]

Photoplasm is an energy that can be used and manipulated in light such as bright white light, whereas ectoplasm cannot survive exposure to white light and has uncomfortable or stressful results for the medium. Ectoplasm can be exposed to red light for short intervals. Photoplasm moves at a different vibration and is complex to capture on film, but can be seen quite clearly in the room and most importantly felt in the room too. When photoplasm becomes solid it can be used to move objects.

Photoplasm does not replace ectoplasm, rather it is a different form of energy that complements ectoplasm and shows the very existence of these energies around us that up to recent times have only been able to be used in a room of total darkness, or with very low red light. You have the two different forms of energy which although they have a similar make up, they have been created by spirit to perform the same function which is, to produce physical materialisation evidence.
Some mediums will be able to tolerate ectoplasm and indeed will develop physical mediumship in that form, while others will develop the ability to use photoplasm in light. The demonstration of photoplasmic energy actually confirms the existence of ectoplasm. They are both energies used for the same purpose, i.e. for spirit to make their presence felt and known. There are so many different forms of mediumship and there are so many mediums who can channel these energies, or spirit messages, and materialisation phenomena in so many different ways. Each medium channels the energy in their own way according to their vibration. However, all mediums do it with the one idea in mind; which is to deliver the message that there is no death, and that spirit exists.

The Photoplasmic Energy

It is widely known by those who understand spiritual truths, that every physical body and physical object has an equivalent etheric double (sometimes termed “spiritual double”). The etheric body, or exact double of everything on earth, is primarily used in a physical circle and it this body that is acted upon first when we use photoplasm. Within a physical circle it is the etheric part which is utilised first, not the physical. The vibration of a person, or object, is first slowed down to allow the etheric part to absorb the photoplasm. The slowing down of the etheric process is gradually turning the etheric part into a malleable substance which can be used to eventually move a physical material object, the substance can also be used on an etheric body which can be vibrated by the spirits and guides to create a physical body that can be visually seen. Indeed, photoplasm can also be used to manufacture a voice box for direct voice speech in the circle room.
As the vibration of the individuals in a circle speeds up, spirit can then use the photoplasm to charge the actual aura of the etheric part of each object. From this point it is then vibrated until it moves. Before a physical object in a circle can move, or before physical atoms can be reconstructed to make a form of photoplasm that you can see with the naked eye, the spirit guides have to move the etheric part. The etheric part, also known as the spiritual double, has to be accelerated first so that they can move the physical. Once the guides can move the etheric, it is then that they can move the physical. The etheric moves first, then the physical.
There is also a trilogy to all spirit bodies, the etheric or spirit body, the astral body, and the physical body. When a person dies, the silver chord detaches itself from the physical body to the astral. The astral then speeds up and goes into the spiritual or etheric body. The general idea with this in a circle, is that people speed up their auras to such a degree that they become more aware of the etheric doubles and also the spirit etheric doubles that are in the room. The vibrations that are needed can be produced by the quickening of the individuals vibration within a circle to a point where they become more attuned to the etheric. As that happens, the spirit guardians and guides can the use the speeded up energy coming from within the individuals in the circle to magnetise, and to move the particles of the etheric. Once the etheric starts moving, they can then mould the photoplasm and slow the vibration down in a certain way so that the guides can produce movement of the physical as well as the etheric. The photoplasmic energy is gathered and mixed with the etheric energy, also gathered from the individual sitters, to create a mould of viscous substance. What used to be known as ectoplasm was created in very much the same way but it was created directly “through” the individual vibration of the physical medium. Ectoplasm resulted in some circles only having one or two mediums in the group that could take the intensity of quickening, or the intensity of vibration to create the energy necessary to mix with the etheric energy producing the ectoplasm. In the case of photoplasm, the difference now being that the energy for the photoplasm is gathered from all the individuals, but you still need to have the quickened vibration of a physical medium present to be able to resonate the atmosphere to a certain degree. The one major difference here being, that instead of the energy being channelled through one individual like it was done with ectoplasm, it is channelled though many individuals and gathered in a certain way. But, the guides still have to channel it through the physical medium who is still necessary to produce physical mediumship. The photoplasm is channelled though the physical medium, and unlike with old ectoplasm, it is then detached from the medium. Although it is etheric or living energy coming from every individual in the group, instead of being channelled through one etheric body, one frail body, it is channelled and used outside of the individuals who are sitting in circle. You still have to be careful nonetheless because any exposure (of light) in the wrong way can withdraw that energy very, very quickly. Whilst it would not be as disastrous as it would be with ectoplasm it would still be quite painful for the main medium who is sitting there. And it would be quite exhausting for the other people, who are supplying the energy to the medium who is acting as the conduit for the energy, due to his or her higher vibration. The more one sits in circle the more attuned you become, the quicker the vibration can become, and accordingly the more attuned the spirit chemists and people who work in spirit can become to the individuals. They will know the subtleties of each individual and how they can work the energy within the context of any given circle. This is why it takes times with the individuals to produce physical phenomenon. Indeed, within a group each person brings a different vibration to the circle and this can result in better harmony and communication. For instance, there could be one or more mediums with different abilities that can be harnessed.
The general idea of the new photoplasm is to take the individual acceleration and development of each individual and perfect it into one whole so that you are not dependent on one medium. But in fact, you are drawing on the abilities of the entire circle or group. What spirit guides are doing in these groups is that they are not relying on one medium, they are relying on drawing and getting people together with different abilities so that they can utilise their progression, and their development. Instead of the focus being one medium, the physical medium and the whole circle works more as a group. In working as a group, the photoplasmic energy can be utilised much more efficiently than the old ectoplasm could be, because they are drawing the energy through many channels and taking the quickened vibration from many channels instead of one individual who they would have trained for a long time. This is why eventually there will be an expansion of physical mediumship in the future and it will be much more common for physical mediums to get better results.

If you work as a team, if you have harmony, it helps the syncopation or the actual collection of the energy into one unit. The more you work together, the more you think of one mind, the more you work in love and strength to the guides, the easier it becomes for them to create all the individuals like all the petals of the flower come together to form the perfect rose. Once all the individuals are joined together it forms the whole body. This is done by each individual adding to the circle, the more each person gives, the brighter the light emanating from the circle and the higher the energy being produced the better the results.

Subtle Vibrations

It is often the case that some people in a circle say that they can see spirit, or some say “I can see transfiguration”, while others say they “cannot see anything”. The reality here is that it depends on the individual’s personal development whether they will see certain phenomena and the development relates to the speed of their vibration. The faster your vibration is, the more attuned you are and the more you will see of the etheric bodies which are being formed with the photoplasm. Therefore, you may have a group of six or seven people, three or four may see a transfiguration or hand moving in circle, while others do not. What they are seeing is the etheric part moving because it has absorbed the photoplasm. It is the individual’s development that makes it possible for them to see the early stages of the spirit formations, very much like any other mediumistic ability. It is by your attunement, by the quickening of your spirit bodies vibration, that you become more attuned to the etheric world and can start to see the etheric doubles of physical objects, and in some cases spirits, and the movement of objects in the room. With the photoplasm, as more and more people add to the energy and it quickens, the photoplasm quickens and the spirits mould it in a certain way with other chemicals so that it becomes non-etheric (physical), but appears viscous and solid to the material world. At different stages and depending on the speed of a person’s vibration, the photoplasm becomes stronger in the room. At different points some people will start to see it forming, while others will not see it. The reason some can see the photoplasm while others cannot, is down to the fact that their vibration has not been speeded up so they are not attuned or receptive to seeing the phenomena. But, as the person’s vibrations are quickened in a circle, eventually the photoplasm is moulded in a specific way so that it becomes fluid enough to move objects. If the right conditions are present it will be become solid enough for it to be filmed. This is also why sometimes you will see spirit activity on film, but not in the room. On other occasions the people will see spirit activity in the room but it is not captured on film. The light sensitivity of the camera can pickup the photoplasmic moulding or photoplasmic coating around the etheric part, but the human eye will not always pick it up and vice versa. The camera is operating at distinct frequencies so it is not capable of observing or filming the higher frequencies that a physical person can see. The reason a person can see the photoplasm is because a person is able to be vibrated in such a way that they can sense these frequencies. It is similar to an infra red camera that can film objects in the infra red light spectrum but not the other parts of the light spectrum. Therefore as we sometimes film in infra red video, this cannot be vibrated like a human person so it does not see these frequencies (not with current technology).

Evidence of Photoplasm

Experimentation

Anyone producing empirical evidence will follow a path of experimentation to produce repeatable results. The Ghostcircle physical circle follows such an empirical format and is prepared with the same principles of the scientific experimenter, in that we will setup the conditions of the experiment to produce measurable and observable results for those who participate in the physical experiment, namely the physical circle sitters.
The basic setup of the Physical Circle experiment is the same every time. We have “a storage cabinet” used to store and manipulate the energy produced in the circle. There is a physical medium, and some physical circle sitters. On some occasions a table may be used.

The Equipment (The Storage Cabinet)

A storage cabinet is necessary to allow energy to be contained and used when necessary by spiritual entities. The other reason the cabinet is used is so that the observers, or physical circle sitters, are sheltered from seeing shapes being developing during the circle experiment as quite often is can be quite unnerving, frightening, or “evil looking” to see as the photoplasmic energy is forming into shapes. Positioned around the storage cabinet will be the physical medium and the circle sitters. A physical medium that uses photoplasm is not normally required to sit in the storage cabinet. This is a diversion from how previous physical mediums used to perform in the past. Physical mediums would normally sit inside a cabinet while using the light sensitive ectoplasmic energy, because the medium required the ectoplasm to be protected from the circle sitters and any bright light that may accidentally shine on the ectoplasm as it forms around the medium. Bright light can make ectoplasm unstable and cause injury to the medium while it is forming.
With photoplasm, the energy is derived from the sitters and the physical medium and as it is not so light sensitive the medium is not required to sit in the circle cabinet. The cabinet is used purely for the storage and manipulation of energy.

Observation

As with any theory put forward in science, the next step to prove your theory is to gather evidence by experimentation using empirical methods with repeatable results. Patrick McNamara and Ghostcircle have set about proving the existence of Photoplasm by continually conducting experiments of physical mediumship, the result of which is that the production of Photoplasm has been generated on each occasion. Once produced, the photoplasm has been observed and experience by thousands of witnesses on multiple occasions over the last decade.
These experiments have been filmed in lighted conditions using red and blue bulbs in the circle room. The lighting used gives enough light to be able to read written text on a board if held up. The circle sitters will normally see phenomena occurring in the room. This phenomena starts by forming different photoplasmic shapes or formations near the cabinet. These formations are observed and described exactly as seen by the other observers sitting in the circle. This proves that the observers cannot be deluding or imaging what they are seeing, as they are all seeing and describing the exact same phenomena. This is non delusional observation, as they will describe the same objects forming or phenomena appearing at the same time.

Physical Forms

The phenomena of “Photoplasm” that is produced, is physical in its form. By physical I mean that it can be felt, is sensitive to the touch, has properties of temperature fluctuation between hot and cold, and on many instances forms a body (a physical human form) whose shape can be felt and followed by the hands of the observer as they describe a head and shoulders or arms. Other phenomenon produced is the “x-ray effects” where by people can see the bones of their own arms, or the skeleton of their own hands. The sitters can even see fingers and hands disappearing including the total transparency of their bodily parts. Evidence gathered from sitters [4] show that they can also see elongation or shrinkage of the same bodily parts, the hands, or fingers and the arms and so on. Consequently, while bodily parts are disappearing or changing, other physical forms like hands and fingers are being formed by spirit entities which when touched have physical warmth just like a human hand would.
There is also an affect which could be considered like “translucency”, and what is meant here is that the light in the room (normally a red and blue light), cannot reflect off the bodily object and goes straight through the object that the observer is looking at like an arm, hand, or finger and they can see someone else body parts on the other side of their own limbs. Some people have also become transparent on occasions, either partially around the head and shoulders, or fully against a solid background like a wall located behind them.
The medium Patrick McNamara has also produced a solid spirit and spirit lights that can be seen following him or peeling off his back as he moves back and forth across a circle room. This has been attested to by witnesses in many different videos. [4]

Movement of Objects

Photoplasm can form “physical rods” which allow observers to move objects. It has been proven during many experiments that photoplasm can be turned into what are termed “rods”. The rods are formed by the photoplasmic energy turning in a semi physical rod like substance that attaches to a physical object, in some experiments this object would be a flower, and the observers (not the medium) are able to move the object by rotating their hands or fingers around the flower without touching the flower itself. The control is under the observers and witnesses. The medium is standing back and not involved in this situation as the energy has been built up to allow this phenomena to occur. For example, in the Basingstoke Church experiment, the members present who numbered about 30, were handed flowers (up to a dozen flowers) that they held “in their own hands” and were then moved in circles by another independent observer who rotated their hands or fingers around the flower, without touching the flower, and caught hold of these rods as they moved their hands causing the flower to move as they hit the rods which were attached to the flower. Other flowers were actually moved by spirit entities without any physical movement by the circle sitters. The observers just held the flowers in their hands. This has been captured and repeated on film with many different circle sitters’ dozens of times.

Repeatable

As with all empirical experiments, for an empirical result to be valid the same results should be obtained through experimentation when repeated again in the next experiment and subsequent experiments. In demonstrating the phenomenon of photoplasm with a physical medium, in this case Patrick McNamara, the results described above have been repeated again and again with thousands of people, in hundreds of different locations, including open venues like Basingstoke Church or a sealed and locked down environment like “Scotland’s Secret Bunker” [5] which was 100 foot underground with the location of the circle room randomly chosen by the circle sitters whose members included psychologists and social scientists. In subsequent repeated experiments the same phenomena was seen and felt by independent observers, most of whom have never sat in a physical circle before and were sceptical of the paranormal. On each occasion the results were captured on camera and attested as real and tangible energy by those present who were convinced afterwards that what they experienced was real and objective.

Conclusion

Photoplasm is part of a new science that has been termed “etheric science” [7] by Patrick McNamara and covers the invisible dimensions of ether that surround us. We are all made up of energy but the atomic and subatomic particles move or vibrate at different frequencies called vibrations. As the law of conservation states, “Matter cannot be created or destroyed but only changed” in its form. Photoplasm uses matter and energy to change the ether around us. When Photoplasm is produced, it occurs when the ether is vibrated around us and the physical matter is clothed around the vibrated etheric object to allow us to visually see its different forms in our physical dimension of space and time.
The researcher and medium Patrick McNamara is following on from the pioneers before him, the work of great scientists and noble prize winners such as Sir William Crookes, Sir Oliver Lodge, Prof. Charles Richet, Sir William Barrett, Frederick Myers, and Baron Dr. Albert Schrenck-Notzing.
Modern day scientists and noble prize winners such as Prof. Brian D. Josephson (Cambridge University) are investigating the unknown universe that surrounds us. Prof. Dean Radin (Senior scientist at The Institute of Noetic Sciences) is investigating precognition within the consciousness of the physical world and the greater knowledge that surrounds us (in the etheric world.) Dr. Melvin Morse and his work on near death experiences NDE. Prof. Gary Schwarz (Arizona University) who conducted experiments with dream precognition and prophecy. Other paranormal investigators like Brian and Ann Allan have been investigating vortex dimensions and tonal vibrations from the Rosslyn Chapel in Scotland.

Note: The above process and description outlined describes a work in progress between two changing worlds. As this is a new form of energy it may not be adaptable to every physical medium.
